We envision a world where every woman and child can receive safe, high-quality healthcare because it should be accessible to all.
THE REASON BEHIND OUR WORK
Across rural Tanzania, far too many mothers and newborns lose their lives from preventable causes. During the rainy season, impassable roads, long distances to health facilities, and limited financial means make accessing care nearly impossible for many families. These barriers contribute to critical delays in seeking, reaching, and receiving quality care. By working together, we can remove these obstacles and ensure every mother and newborn has a fair chance to survive and thrive.
Every year, thousands of women and newborns in Tanzania lose their lives to preventable complications of pregnancy and childbirth. Approximately 8,000 mothers and over 40,000 infants die each year lives that could be saved with timely, quality care. This crisis is amplified by a high fertility rate of 4.8 children per woman and an unmet need for contraception of 17%, leaving many families vulnerable and communities struggling.
How We Work
We are a National led NGO collaborating with communities, health providers, and stakeholders to deliver sustainable, high-impact solutions.
Our approach is guided by the Three Barriers to Care a practical framework that addresses the root causes of preventable maternal, newborn, Children and Young Girls deaths. Every PHBC program is designed to remove these barriers and ensure timely, life-saving care.
We focus on overcoming barriers:
1. In deciding to seek care
2. In reaching appropriate care
3. In receiving quality care
